LiveWire Electrical recently had the opportunity to help with a kitchen remodel in the beautiful city of Concord, North Carolina. The Kurtz family decided to completely overhaul their stunning Concord home, renovating every room in the house. They needed a high-quality electrical service which they received by partnering with the team at LiveWire Electrical.
Kitchen remodels require a lot of work and expertise. Modern kitchen appliances also require a lot more power than old appliances, so it’s important to understand how a kitchen upgrade will impact your home’s entire electrical system.
The Kitchen Remodel
The kitchen remodel required a lot of updates to the electrical system. The Kurtz family needed updated recessed lighting, new appliance wiring, and additional outlets installed throughout the kitchen. The old, outdated kitchen had poor lighting, a restricting layout, and not nearly enough outlets for their small kitchen appliances.
Before we even started the project in the kitchen, we did a full inspection of their electrical system and assessed their new appliances that were going to be installed. We saw that they had a 120-amp electrical panel and worked with them to upgrade to a 200-amp electrical panel, all while staying within the project budget.
Proper Appliance Wiring
Large kitchen appliances require a lot of power, and if you’re upgrading to new appliances like the Kurtz family did, always ensure that your electrical panel can provide the power your appliances need. If the Kurtz household didn’t upgrade to a 200-amp panel before connecting their new appliances, they would experience consistent trips and potentially a panel overload.
Consistently using appliances that draw more power than a panel can handle can lead to dangerous electrical fires, which is why we always inspect electrical panels before beginning any project.
